About me:

I was born in the Melbourne suburb of Oakleigh and currently live in rural Gippsland where I work from the peaceful surrounds of my home studio. I have been a practising artist for the past fifteen years working across a variety of media. I have held a number of solo exhibitions and exhibited locally in Gippsland, Melbourne, and interstate. My work has been purchased by clients in Australia, Europe and the U.S. I have been shortlisted for several major art prizes throughout Australia including the Fleurieu Art Prize in South Australia, the Hornsby Art Prize in NSW and the Flanagan Art Prize in Victoria. In 2015 and 2016 I was selected as a finalist in the CityScapes competition in Florida, USA.

My inspiration is predominantly sourced from Melbourne live music venues, laneways, disused buildings, cafes and train stations, all of which reflect my passion for the urban environment and the local music scene.

In 2017 I collaborated with Melbourne musician Kim Volkman to edit and publish Kim’s autobiography, “The Devil Won’t Take Charity” and in 2019, we collaborated again to publish Kim’s second book, “For Those That Dance With The Skeleton – A Book of Short Stories”.    http://www.facebook.com/VolkmanBailey2017/

In 2019, I wrote and self-published my first book, “Blues Portrait – A Profile of the Australian Blues Scene” which was launched at The Rainbow Hotel. Volumes 2 and 3 were released simultaneously in November, 2021.  Available from: https://store15455084.ecwid.com/

Pauline! g’day I saw your work for the first time today as I ate my lunch at Burrinja gallery Upwey. I loved the personal manner you made the subjects your own! with collage, and the way you blend colours and shaded areas, I went to the gallery where I’m a Jarmbi member to view other stuff, then I “found” you, made it a beaut day! xxx .
